Fight the Frizz after your workout

I sweat at least once a day. I have naturally CURLY hair but straighten it often. As you may know, once naturally curly hair that has been straightened gets wet... it goes right back to curly. I have dealt with my curly hair-line by using a headband after I sweat.  How do you deal with your hair after you sweat and have to head back to work or be presentable for a dinner date with no time to shower!? Here are three hair style ideas from Fab Fit Fun.

This is one purchase I will be making! "Bigger, better, full-on glamorous hair. This invisible dry hair spray builds in incredible volume and sexy texture. Patented polymers absorb oil at the roots, leaving you with just-styled hair for days (and nights)."

Every Saturday Equinox sponsors a FREE class at the Liberty Hotel, 10-11am. This class is open to anyone, and not only hotel guests! Bottled water, a few mats, and towels are provided. Today I taught a strength and stretch class... with a little Sweat with Lauren Hefez twist.

  • feta
  • arugula
  • vinaigrette
  • you can add pine nuts, walnuts, or any nut!

Ever try watermelon and feta together? The sweet and salty combination is unreal!

Blockbuster Body™

Have you ever dreamed of being a super hero? Well, I was this weekend. In fact, I was surrounded by about 20 other superheros.  For an hour, I was transformed into Cat Woman. I did not save any lives, but I definitely improved my own! I found myself running, crawling, kicking, jumping and leaping at Equinox Back Bay's studio.

The release of their class Blockbuster Body™ was being covered by The Boston Globe, so the class made sure to be on their A-game just incase a picture was being snapped. I was drenched! My body was  energized the whole time. The class was taught by the dynamic team of Kristy Discipeio and Maryanne Blake. The music really made me feel like I was IN a movie. Even the slightest head isolations, high leg kicks, and fast leaping across the floor made me forget that I was in a class, and really helped me gear in to my inner super hero!

What you can be expecting from class:

  • "An exciting total body cardio conditioning class that combines the principle of cross discipline training and integrated movement.
  • Train like an actor preparing for a blockbuster movie role.
  • Develop functional mobility, speed and agility, cardiovascular endurance, usable and powerful strength, upper body weight-bearing conditioning and core stability.
  • Bring the fun and flare of unique conditioning modalities and themes from current and past action film into one compelling total body workout without any additional equipment."

And this morning I woke up sore in my triceps, glutes and lats. A challenging class, using only body weight and a little childhood creativity. A must try! An Equinox member? Check out the schedule for times!

Hint Water® NO calories, NO sugar, NO artificial sweeteners

Special delivery!

One of my favorite things to do when going to a spa is drink their water. I like to call it "spa water".  Spa water is usually infused with fruits like cantaloupe, watermelon, and blueberries. It's refreshing and wonderful, best part.... it's NATURAL!

And then comes along mastermind Kara Goldin, CEO & Founder of Hint Water®, who bottled my so called "spa water"! Genius! As a mother of four, her inspiration came from wanting to give herself and her family a healthy drinking option, and wanting it to have more pizzazz than plain water.  The creation of Hint Water® started in her own kitchen, as she would add fruit to her families water. Her flavored creation become a hit amongst her kids, and her kids friends! Supermarkets are flooded with sugary flavored water and soda, but hint gives you that "healthier" option, and is far more fun .

HOW is the water flavored you ask:  Hint uses the REAL fruit. Sometimes they use the rind, sometimes the peel and sometimes the whole fruit!

I first discovered Hint while in the Hampton's. I was at the beach and was craving a refreshing drink. My drink of choice, 98% of the time, is plain old water.  I was pleased when I saw Hint, and after reading its pure ingredients I knew I had to give it a try. Glad I did!

The Marketing Manager of Hint Water(Boston), was kind enough to hand deliver three cases of this wonderful drink! I will be sharing this water with all my personal training clients, friends, and family!

Inside I found 5 different flavors...

1.pomegranate - tangerine

2. watermelon (first flavor I tried)

3.mango-grapefruit

4.strawberry-kiwi

5.blackberry ( I am drinking this as I type!)

Now go find some hint water and drink up! Cheers!
