Camera man and I are in CA for a week to visit family and friends. The weather has been more than perfect and it's been nice to get a break from the Boston chill.
Whenever I visit my aunt and uncle I get spoiled. My mom's side of the family is in the restaurant business so their fridge is always full of goodies and they cook better than me :). It's always comforting to me when I know I will be fed nice clean homemade food.
Below: my uncle made an acorn squash (baked at 350 for an hour) then stuffed with quinoa and vegetables.
Below: Rice and noodle concoction with cooked carrots. Fun to look at and eat!
After a couple of nights at my families house we headed to our friends. The night we arrived they made us a super dinner of salmon, salad, and yellow sweet potatoes. My first time having that kind of sweet potato! I loved it! It was less sweet than a yam. Wish I had a picture. Have you had a yellow sweet potato before??
For lunch the next day we made ourselves a delicious salad with some leftover salmon and enjoyed the ocean view and sun.
After lunch, camera man, our friend and I went for walk and camera man showed off his leaping skills. His hidden talents always amaze me!
We kept walking and I got hungry again. So we stopped into La Boulange (which was bought out by Starbucks) and I got an open face hummus, cucumber, tomato, and sprout sandwich with a side salad. I asked what kind of bread it was on and they said pheasant? Or peasant? It was just sour dough.
On our way out we grabbed a sample of a croissant filled with hazelnut chocolate..... So amazing. We talked about it for 5 minutes after we ate it. It was that good.
We were going to bring our friends wine to thank them for hosting us, but instead we made a fruit basket made of: mini pears (pictured), mango, papaya, apples, blood oranges, blueberries and strawberries. They were very pleased :) and we are very thankful.
Annnnnd tonight we are going out for some Vietnamese food. Should be delicious!!!!!!! I will try to make a workout video while I am here. But I can not promise. Xoxoxo
